Thank you. My meter is returnable, so I'm OK on that, but I'm going to
try it first. I have been trying it on domestic plastic coated wood
(kiitchen counter tops, and it does give consistent readings, different
for different parts of the counter--highest near the sink (11%) and
lowest away (6%), with variations as I change between the 4
sensitivities available).
This wet aand icy weather is not giving me a fair chance to test the
meter on my boat. But I really do have to major projects to bring
Phoenix up to what I want; one of them to locate and correct any water
logged wood before collapse, and to correct the leakage at the
windows. We may have different priororities.
Wish me luck. I'll report here what I've found at my boat.
My pricing is like yours: Donmestic meters cost from $350 to $600. But
Harbor Freight has proved fairly reliable in the past.

I didn't have luck with your link, but I did go onto www.harborfreight.com,
did a keyword search for "moisture" and found the item I think you're

I noticed the description indicates that it has four scales for various
types of wood. Do you have any feel for what it's accuracy might be for
fiberglass, or for balsa sandwiched in fiberglass?
