Frank, The tape seems very thick. When I put mine back on I used GE Silicone clear Type I I. Comes in a caulk type tube. Put a small bead down the center and around the bolt holes. My main concern was to seal the bolt holes. What sqeezed out I cleaned with acetone. They sure look nice.  Someone previously told me to use buytle tape to seal the rail when I put them back on. My question now is:   do I put the tape on the rail bottoms and how thick?  I had to buy enough tape to do a thousand boats.  The tape is about 3/16 thick but very pliable so I could spread it thin.   My take on this is that I should put it on thin because when I tighten the rails, the butyle will seep out and form its own thickness.
