Dave,

I think that it will work just fine. I have had mine out several times
and find that the sheet runs much better now that one block is removed
and no more binding on the vang block.

The Catalina manual drawing 4.1.10 has the sheet routed to the
gooseneck. The original configuration can be seen at
http://www.sailtravis.us/

Also note the large cleat between the boom and mast step, it would also
bind against the sheet.
