Dave, John, Yes, this setup will work fine. I've had mine that way for several years. As I moved into racing my cruising-laden boat, I changed my mainsheet to this: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/sailrmann/new_mainsheet_setup.jpg I have since changed my traveler to the straight-track and changed the blocks to air blocks. Now, it is easier to control the mainsheet from either side of the cockpit. The only downside is that the dodger doesn't mix with it very well. But then I almost never use the dodger.
