Andy,

I Had a similar problem on my 1976 Catalina and it turned out to be a bad contact inside the switch.

Subject: Re: catalina27-talk: Quick Question

Hi List
I have a quick question.  My boat starts on the the #2 battery, but will not start if I put it on the #1 battery (It slow cranks, like the battery is dead). It will also start if I use both batteries. Both Batteries are fairly new (both Sears Marine batteries, changed two years ago).  Both batteris are reading good and charged on my digital battery tester.  Someone suggested that I may have a bad connection on the #1 battery.  My question, is : How many points must be checked starting at the battery working to the engine?   Thanks....
