Two wrenches, two people, one on each side of engine.  Hold nut (stuffing box) with one wrench and loosen the locking nut with the other wrench.  Tighten the stuffing box to desired degree and then re-tighten the locking nut while holding the packing nut.  That should do it.     John Jennings (been there, done it)
