I too would like to know more about closing up the transom I still have the factory plug and would like the added storage
From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Re: catalina27-talk: Outboard BracketDate: Tue, 19 Dec 2006 22:18:04 -0500 Thanks Dave - I purchased a Garelick 71040 (25hp/118lbs.) on ebay for my "new" '94 Evinude 9.9. I was thinking about putting it on the side - what made you decide to glass in the hole? Are you doing the work yourself? There were some discussions about enlarging the hole but I don't think I heard anyone talk about closing it in. I'd be interested in hearing a little more about the process. I am currently in the process of glassing the "plug" into the transom and re-enforcing it to support the bracket. I also had a backing plate made from stainless at a local shop. With the Michigan winter as it is I probably won't get the project done until mid April.I am really impressed with the bracket, it feels strong enough and it was really the only option through the WEST catalog. It also was the only way to get the motor out of the water while racing and clear of the zebra mussels while at the dock. Not much real information here, but I hope it helps.Dave TechlinGustyBay CIty, Mi.Henry Hubbard <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Does anyone have any experience with the Garelick or similar outboard brackets?
