Jeff, I'm bringing a double air mattress with me if I go south this weekend (I live about 1.5 hrs away) and see how the slight underinflation works out. FWIW, I'm thinking of using a double-size air mattress, which should fit nicely widthwise. Most are 54 inches, and I measure a 55-inch width of the narrower (port) settee. Lengthwise it may be a bit of a squeeze. Most mattresses are 74 inches, and I measure 70 inches at the short (fore) side of the new berth. But I'm thinking it should work if I keep the mattress slightly under-inflated. Anyway, thanks again. I attached a pic of how the inside looks bedless (I left the photo pretty big so you can see detail). If you look closely you can see the cutouts for the stringers with the topping strip. The wide trim strips lengthwise under each berth were replaced with thicker mahogany but level with the berth, with a removable finishing trim that fits in with dowels along the top so there is a lip for the cushions again. I'm planning to visit my boat this weekend for a fix and will take a few photos to put on my somewhat neglected website.
