Thanks to everyone for the good advice and making the observation that something was amiss on my masthead.
Catalina Direct had a C27 divider plate in stock. I ordered the plate and three of the plastic sheaves. The new plastic sheaves are made with UV stabilized black Delrin and has a center bushing for long life. I am sure that these will do fine for this cruising sailer. I have decided to lower the mast with the A-frame technique that I can find several links to on the WWW. John
