Ted, I had the same "problem." However, I did, as everyone here suggests, and held the button in for a full minute. Now I usnderstand a Southern minute in Georgia is not near a fast as a New York minute; but, use a watch if you have to get the time standard down. I find in the warmer months you can get by with less time.
Also, welcome to the prop walk world. The main issue is that the prop is forward of the rudder. That is fine when moving forward as the prop thrust makes the rudder immediately effective. The same is not true for reverse as the thrust is directed away from the rudder. The rudder doesn't become effective in reverse until the boat is moving a bit. Cheers!
