Man I so wish this discussion applied to me. But with a blown out old
main sail I don't have any real sail shape anyway. She still sails
better than most 30 footers.

I agree T-900 is overkill. Totally agree with you there.

It does make decent spinsheets though. Those few tenths of a
percent....on a 32 foot boat with 50 feet of guy running to the pole,
having 8 inches of stretch means that, shy reaching in a big breeze, the

pole is slamming into the forestay in every puff!!! Puff ON....WHAM!!
Puff ON...WHACK!!!!! ugly

In terms of the economics....For all intents and purposes, sails are our

engines....and since we dont spend much money on petrol, and we want
our "engines" to run efficiently (in theory), why not consider dumping
some of the change we save on fossil fuel back into an easy upgrade
that will, relatively cheaply, result in better performance and, as Phil

has mentioned, a more relaxed and less tired crew? Seems like a
penny-wise
decision to me...obviously within reason...a full wardrobe of WarpSpeed
or PoBOn would be ridiculous on a C27, admittedly.

As far as the Regatta Braid, since, when you are trimmed in, you are
probably only a couple feet at most (and maybe just a few inches at the
least...depending on where your jib leads are and how big your genny is)

stretch is much less of a factor....a whopping 4 perecent over 18inches
is only 3/4 inch..so, yeah, GO THE REGATTA BRAID!!! Love that stuff.
