Back in the summer I posted that I bought a new Garmin chartplotter (440sx) and was very disappointed with it. I feel I should set the record straight. I found that Garmin had put out about a dozen software updates since my unit was built. I finally figured out I could download the updates from the Garmin site to my hard drive, then transfer that info to a SD (flash) card. Then simply plug the SD card into my chartplotter and it updates. Works much better now and I am happy with the unit. Most Garmins that I have used will show the software version either on the startup page or from the menu page. That info can be verified on the Garmin site to see if the latest and greatest is installed. Don, #6293, Nicevile, FL
