John,

Everyone should have at least one onboard. You can find it at a good sized
Drug store in the first aide section or a Sporting Goods store. It's the
first thing you need to wrap on a person rescued from the water to combat
hyperthermia.

 Phil,

If you could find the article it would be much appreciated. I have an 85; I
can get to the starboard, forward and bottom sides very easily. The port
side is tight and the aft impossible except drilling through the walls of
the ice box as has been mentioned in an earlier post.

Space blanket? I have heard of this, where do you find them?

Jim,

I have an article on doing the job stashed away somewhere. If I remember
correctly the whole cabinet comes out and you'll need a friend to help
wrestle with it.

I'd recommend you find a source of Dow SquareEdge extruded Styrofoam. You'll
have to look at an insulation wholesaler but Dow website has a find a
distributor tool. I can tell you exactly where to get in Oakland and
Sacramento.

The other thing you'll want is a space blanket. It will block 80% of the
radiant heat trying to fin it's way into your new insulation.

Subject: catalina27-talk: Access to sink and cooler in Traditional Layout

One of my winter projects is to replace the galley sink drain and insulate
the cooler in my '79 traditional layout. Any advice on getting access to
these?

It looks like I have to take the whole galley cabinet out, but I wanted to
confirm that. I took all the screws out that I could see holding that in,
but it appears that there are more on the aft end that I am missing because
that side is pretty tight yet.

There is a wooden bulkhead on the forward end of the port lazerette that
prevents me from getting to the aft side of the cabinet, so I am hoping the
screws are all inside the cabin. The battery charger and shore power
breaker and wiring is all attached to that bulkhead, so it would be a pain
to remove. Any hints and tricks are appreciated.
