I expected the Snow Geese might be leaving due to buried feeding grounds, but a friend who lives on Podunk Rd in Ulysses said that early this afternoon she saw a large flock of them in the fields across from her house.

Many big flocks of Snow Geese passing over Mt Pleasant too, during my walk up there just now. Also some flocks of Canadas. Interesting watching the beautiful, ever-changing patterns Snow Goose flocks take on flying directly overhead , as individual birds reposition themselves within the flock. Canada flock patterns just don't seem so pretty.

Also on Mt Pleasant: a large flock of Snow Buntings.

Thousands have been passing overhead for the past few hours. Great to be out on
snowshoes and watch them against this dramatic sky. Reckon their feeding grounds
have just been covered with snow.
