August 08, 2022

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)

     8/10: A SEDGE WREN continues near the parking area on Morgan Road.

     8/14: 9 Shorebird species including WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER were seen at 
the Visitor’s Center. 11 Shorebird species including 2 RUDDY TURNSTONES were 
seen along the Wildlife Drive. Also found was a GLOSSY IBIS. 12 Shorebird 
species in all were counted between the two areas.

     




Oswego County

     8/9: 13 Shorebird species including 7 RUDY TURNSTONES, 8 WHITE-RUMPED 
SANDPIPERS, a RED KNOT and a STILT SANDPIPER were seen at the Sandy Pond Outlet 
on Lake Ontario. Also seen there was a FORSTER’S TERN. A LEAST BITTERN was seen 
at the pond on Biddlecum Road. An ACADIAN FLYCATCHER continues on Gray Road 
south of Oswego.

     8/12: 11 

shorebird species including a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER and a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER 
were found at the Sandy Pond Outlet.







Onondaga County

     8/10: A LEAST BITTERN was found at the Nine Mille Creek outlet on Onondaga 
Lake.

     8/14: A SEDGE WREN continues to call at the Big Fields area on Three 
Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville.







Madison County

------------




     8/14: A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was found on Peterson Hollow Road near 
Erieville. A GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was seen at the Sullivan Town Park in 
Chittenango.







Herkimer County

------------




     8/11: 6 Shorebird species including 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS  were seen in the 
McKoons Road park north of Richfiels Springs.

     8/12: A RUSTY BLACKBIRD was seen near Twitchell Lake north of Eagle Bay.
