Thanks everybody who has participated in this lively discussion There seem to be very good proposals here for the translation (and also some disagreement about the methodology to use in the decision making process) I have few remarks which I hope will give a contribution to the discussion: I have asked other affiliates who have a non latin language (Korea, Japan, etc) how they have translated "remix"..everybody seems to have used the translitteration of the English term into their alphabets Now, this is not to say that we should use - ريمكس but , of course, if we want to follow the general lines that the global community is adopting this would not be a bad choice Please also consider the following: - remix is not used in the legal code, so priority should be given to a word the community is familiar with..In general, I would say the "usability" of the word should be the first criteria to choose a word like remix which is not in the legal code - I think somebody in the discussion raised a good point, i.e. the word used by Wikipedia Arabic for remix is the translitteration..Wikipedia is not a "bible" but it is a very well respected community, plus a "sister" community so it would be nice not to use too many different words especially when a new term like "remix" is introduced - even if we translitterate "remix" into arabic and some people do not understand what it means, nothing prevents us from explaining the meaning in the FAQ.new words can be introduced, they should just be explained and some contents in the FAQ but also in blog posts and articles will definetely help to understand - last but not least: I feel this discussion should be happening in a more open place, where the broader community could see it..so maybe we`ll move it to the Arabic website once the new version is out which should be soon. Being not embedded in the legal code, we could eventually use "remix" translitterated just as a temporary version, then change it..
