I have a working GNS3 environment with IPS and ASA's that replicate pretty
much the IPExpert labs. If your IPS and ASA are up and running and you have
some access it sounds like you have the right files/software.

I am also running windows and I have two VM's that I use, one for the
server and one as a client to keep everything contained in the virtual
environment. Which works pretty well for the most part...

I found out that if I wanted to access the IPS from outside my GNS3 lab I
had to add a "ethernet switch" and then add an interface from one of my
routers. I would then configure an IP address on the routers interface that
was in my home network, put the IPS management interface on the same subnet
and then voila I could connect to the IPS sensor over SSH or IDM just fine.
Just make sure that the default gateway for the IPS is the IP address you
configured on the router.

Otherwise if I have everything set up correct in the GNS3 lab I can connect
just fine with my server or client VM's.

Thank you,
James
