No I used my CCO account to download the images. For the IPS sensor I used the 4235 image and for the ASA's I used 8.0.2.
I used this link to extract the ASA image in to two files: http://forum.gns3.net/topic1911.html I then followed this link to get the ASA's working in GNS3: http://www.brainbump.net/gns3-how-to-emulate-asa-in-windows-7/ I then followed this link to get the IPS working in GNS3: http://www.brainbump.net/how-to-emulate-cisco-ips/ James From: Adil Pasha [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, August 25, 2012 5:52 PM To: James Keddington II Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [OSL | CCIE_Security] IPS Virtualized Do you have a modified version of code for IPS and ASA? Best Regards. ______________________ Adil On Aug 25, 2012, at 5:16 PM, James Keddington II wrote: I have a working GNS3 environment with IPS and ASA's that replicate pretty much the IPExpert labs. If your IPS and ASA are up and running and you have some access it sounds like you have the right files/software. I am also running windows and I have two VM's that I use, one for the server and one as a client to keep everything contained in the virtual environment. Which works pretty well for the most part... I found out that if I wanted to access the IPS from outside my GNS3 lab I had to add a "ethernet switch" and then add an interface from one of my routers. I would then configure an IP address on the routers interface that was in my home network, put the IPS management interface on the same subnet and then voila I could connect to the IPS sensor over SSH or IDM just fine. Just make sure that the default gateway for the IPS is the IP address you configured on the router. Otherwise if I have everything set up correct in the GNS3 lab I can connect just fine with my server or client VM's. I can use some suggestions, maybe even some files from you. I've been compiling all sorts of code on my mac for a few days and the IPS while I can practice commands but I can't get it communicating outside it's own network outside of the telnet through the loopback address.
