Yup the Asa does fine on the adding of the Ethernet switch but I can't seem to
keep two Asa's running at the same time. I did just think up adding a second
Ethernet switch and trying that.

The ips connected to the Ethernet switch, the MAC address of the ips is never
learned and I can't ping the management IP from the local host or vice versa.
I have two ssm20 in the real Asa's at the office but I labbed on them for a few
weeks and put them into prod.

I have VMware fusion but it's just not 100% like workstation for a lot of
things.

I'll grab a cheap windows box from the closet at work and see if its any better.

Brian Clarke

I have a working GNS3 environment with IPS and ASA's that replicate pretty much
the IPExpert labs. If your IPS and ASA are up and running and you have some
access it sounds like you have the right files/software.

I am also running windows and I have two VM's that I use, one for the server
and one as a client to keep everything contained in the virtual environment.
Which works pretty well for the most part...

I found out that if I wanted to access the IPS from outside my GNS3 lab I had
to add a "ethernet switch" and then add an interface from one of my routers. I
would then configure an IP address on the routers interface that was in my home
network, put the IPS management interface on the same subnet and then voila I
could connect to the IPS sensor over SSH or IDM just fine. Just make sure that
the default gateway for the IPS is the IP address you configured on the router.

Otherwise if I have everything set up correct in the GNS3 lab I can connect
just fine with my server or client VM's.

Thank you,
James

If you have a running virtual environment that supports IPS/ASA. I can use
some suggestions, maybe even some files from you.

I've been compiling all sorts of code on my mac for a few days and the IPS
while I can practice commands but I can't get it communicating outside it's own
network outside of the telnet through the loopback address.
