What type of Mac is it PPC or Intel?
In general these are the options.
1) If it's Intel, then you can run PPC binaries and libraries as long
as all libraries are PPC (you can't mix intel and PPC libraries,
unless it's truely a Universal library).
2) If you are on PPC but somehow installed the Intel version of
libfreeglut, then that will explain it entirely as PPC can't run Intel
Mac executables or libraries.
3) A universal library will run on both PPC and Intel.
To check what the actual file type is (PPC, Intel or Universal) do
the following:
file /sw/lib/libfreeglut.3.dylib
I'm not sure what the default behavior of fink is, but I'm sure
BIll Scott can offer more guidance in that regard.
