Well, nobody's let me in on any anti-validation conspiracy (which make sense, seeing as I don't write validation software). But Molprobity runs fine on a local system, and is very easy to configure. PDB-ADIT (which you didn't mention) can also be configured to run locally, but it takes more work (hopefully this'll be improved when the next version is released).
But I guess you've found one of the downsides of using websites to do data processing. Pete -----Original Message----- From: CCP4 bulletin board on behalf of Mark J. van Raaij Sent: Thu 4/10/2008 9:17 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [ccp4bb] anti-Validation conspiracy Dear All, There seems to be some anti-validation conspiracy going on: I would like to run Molprobity (http://molprobity.biochem.duke.edu/), but with the following result: Safari can't open the page "http://molprobity.biochem.duke.edu/" because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy. You might be able to open the page later. When trying WhatCheck (http://biotech.embl-ebi.ac.uk:8400/), the result is: The Biotech service is discontinued due to hardware retirement outside our control. We apologize for the inconvenience this might cause. Then trying Procheck (ok, I know, the previous two are more up-to- date) from CCP4 6.0.2 locally (installed yesterday!), the program hangs indefintely in the "proclean" step... Who's behind this, the authors of a fourth validation suite? Mark PS the authors of the validation program who first fix their problems will most likely earn the citation in the paper we are writing...
