No it won't. Different features would have different tolerance levels to modifications.

Philosophically, one is wrong to expect that living organisms will evolve in a fashion that we find optimal. Whenever I feel that a protein behaves in a way I find stupid, I simply say "giraffe laryngeal nerve" and all comes back to normal.
