There is one thing that comes to my mind, which would greatly improve things: - Overhaul the utmp implementation in dtterm and replace it by utmpx. dtterm still tries to log sessions via utmp, but utmp has been deprecated in FreeBSD and Solaris since quite a while by utmpx. Linux also uses utmpx, as far as I see (albeit with log files named after the old utmp scheme).
