Hi all. When Java update runs under Windows, part of the deal is a pop-up encouraging people to get a Free copy of OpenOffice.org and a link to the OOo site. This has seen an upsurge in inquiries for OOo and is probably the best strategy so far for promoting OOo.
What we now need to do is to clearly state on the CD request page, that although OOo is free for download, Community Distributors normally charge a token fee to recover their production costs etc etc. Also, it would be good to encourage those who inquire of the cost to check their email within a few hours, to 24 hours, for the response from the distributor. My experience has been that a high proportion of inquirers use their email sporadically, and although I furnish them with a rapid response to their inquiries, I do not get a response for weeks in some cases. These problems could "go away" (to a large extent) if addressed on the CD request page. Other comments?
