Hi!

I started with a SCSI only system a few years ago. Last year I had to
buy a new HD. SCSI HD prices in Germany are at least twice as much as
the same IDE HDs. For this reason I bought a new IDE HD. And the
system still works fine.

Regarding SCSI prices I think it's also fine to buy IDE HDs and some
low cost SCSI controllers like ADAPTEC 2904. Their maximum data
transfer rate would be enough for the most of the CDROMs, writer and
other SCSI peripherial devs.
Since almost all newer IDE HDs are DMA capable I don't see any
disadvantages with the above configuration.
