Interesting... Andreas Mller states that cdrdao works with this
drive......
... but without a SCSI error message noone can help.
One problem with cdrtools is that it is becomming a one man show
with 5 MB of source code.
About three years ago, Eric Youngdale stopped working on mkisofs.
If there was not James Pearson, I would have do do anything
on mkisofs too in order to have a complete cdrtools suite.
Heiko's time spent for cdda2wav is becoming less and less.
Andreas Mller helped me to start with autoconf but now he uses
libscg which hides 99% of the portability aspects of a CD-writing program
and he does not help with mkisofs. So ot is much easier for him than
for me to add features.
I spend much time for the last years to make mkisofs maintainable
again and many bugs have been fixed. Last year was a libscg year, this
year will become a RAW writing year for cdrecord (hopefully).

I have a HP 7100 which died 2 years ago on one of two possible Philips
dedeases: the laser became unusable. It is interesting to see that you
seem to have a working unit.
