I've spend some time on the net looking for such a free model, but didn't
really found what i was looking for.

One of the most complete free model I found is "gothic woman"
but it is only rigged and therefore lacking animations, but also diffuse &
specular maps, weight map for the deformations of the skin, and facial
animations.

But the idea of using Assimp is good. The Valve's models of games like
Half-life 2 and Left4Dead can be of great help to develop some new
features.
