If every company gave this kind of listing away free, we would never be able
to sort through the noise. Every software company I have dealt with has
required a fee for becoming a listed "partner." This is to protect them,
the developers and the consumer.

If any hack off the street could be listed as an Allaire partner, then every
script kiddie out there who decides to learn Cold Fusion could get listed
and have the initial appearance of legitamacy. Once they screw a few
clients over, then the entire list loses legitamacy because of that. That
isn't fair to the company or the true developers because it looks like the
list contains nothing but script kiddies. Do not underestimate the power of
word of mouth.

By setting a minimum bar, however low, gives the list added legitamacy.
Even if skills are not required to meet this bar.

And on top of all of this, consultin partners can get the NFR software. I
know of no companies that allow NFR software to be distributed without a
cost. Compared to the Autodesk line (AutoCAD, etc) the $500 that Allaire
asks is a steal.
