Then you are right and the partnership is complete worthless. That is why
the NFR software is a benefit. It would be the only reason for me to
partner with Allaire.

No, but the BBB and Allaire are different. The BBB is a not for profit
organization concerned with good business practices. Allaire is a for
profit software company worried about seeling more copies of thier software.
The $500 is just another step narrow down the number of NFR copies of the
software out on the market. If you ask Allaire, they probably will say
something similar but couched in business doublespeak.

No, providing software is Allaire's business. This is like the MSDN. You
can get a free membership, but it just gives you access to what you could
access anyway. The paid MSDN memberships get you the software and at higher
levels the listing. Pertnering with a software company is usually used to
get the software, not the listing.

Again, you are comparing apples and oranges here. Yahoo's business model is
based upon the web site and the listings. Allaire's business model is about
the software.

Because Allaire is a software company, not a recruiting company. That isn't
what they are concerned with. They want to get good software out and let
the community concern itself with who is using it. Listing 10,000
developers won't add anything to thier bottom line. Listing 10,000
companies using the Cold Fusion and JRun servers does.

OK, how many script kiddies do you have listed on there? Do you have a
feedback or rating method to separate the lambs from the rams? If so, then
good for you. That makes your site a step above other lists.
If I were to partner with Allaire, I wouldn't care about a listing as a
developer. I'd want the software. And I think I speak for many here as
well when I say that.
