I'm not talking about software. I'm talking about a listing.
And I frankly don't believe that a $500 fee is going to get rid of the bad apples.
Think of all the legitimate businesses out there who are not members of the Better
Business Bureau? Does that make them any less legitimate just because some 3rd party
doesn't have them in their database? I think not.
The difference though between Allaire's list and the Better Business Bureau is that
the BBB adds VALUE to the listing by acting as a 3rd party intermediary. I don't
expect Allaire to get into anything like that! That's not their business.
Think about Yahoo. Any schmuck can post a link to their site on Yahoo for free. Does
that mean they are legit? I don't think so.
I'm not talking about Allaire vouching for developers - they've got a certification
program for that. I'm just talking about a simple list of developers which can be
searched geographically. Why should I have to pay a recruiter to find someone 2
blocks from me when I COULD theoretically go to Allaire and say "Hey Allaire - who
develops with your software in my area?"
And that's one of the reasons why I started Fusioneers.com.
ANYONE can go to the Fusioneers.com web site and search for a developer in their area.
And any ColdFusion developer can list themselves for FREE.
