We don't talk about ColdFusion up front. We go in and assess the customer's
problems, if any, and there usually are. Then we go about explaining what
steps need to be taken to get them solved and what processes we go through
to ensure that the customer gets what they need on a timely basis.
Then, after they are happy with knowing that we understand them, and that's
pretty important, and we have built up a bit of a repoire with them, then,
and only then, do we hit them with the ColdFusion scenario as the tool that
will be their means to and end.
We have only had resistance to this process once, and, in the end, after 2
months of convincing and endless meetings, we won. They bought ColdFusion
Enterprise.
So it is not easy by any means, but I believe where there's a will, there's
a way. Maybe with the merger, things will start to fall into place. I
already have people more familiar with Macromedia say, "Hey! That ColdFusion
technology sounds really interesting...blah, blah, blah".

Don't even get that far. I say "We're a ColdFusion programming company"
Then I'd like to talk about "programming" as in "we can solve problems, we
have solutions"
but ColdFusion doesn't track with potential client.
Therefore confused potential client.
