That's actually my point, in part. You participate. You feel strongly and do
what you feel you should, I applaud you.
My point was more to the effect of criticizing anyone who points a finger at
those of us who don't yet they don't either. I don't because I choose to.
I never said the richest were the smartest or vice versa, I simply said the
stronger survive. I'm sure you can see that point, you'll need to be strong
to make your business succeed, which I hope it does.

If you don't do it yourself, why do you even suggest such volunteer efforts?
To answer your question, I DO TAKE PART in such community efforts. I'm have
served as a "volunteer" member of my local Planning and Zoning Commission, I
have contributed to my community via the web for six years, I have
contributed time to my chosen political party for five years, I've spent the
past eight years volunteering for far too many non-profits to name (Yes,
including the Habitat for Humanity and the local homeless shelter). No
matter how Right or Left a person may be, anyone with strong beliefs does
participate!
None of this qualifies me for "Saint-Hood", as you suggest, but it does, I
feel, enable a person to have an opinion regarding social/political issues
which affect us all. As a matter of fact, it is our right as citizens to
voice our opinion no matter our level of contribution or lack thereof!
Thank you for voicing your opinion. You said "No I don't do any of those
things. I believe
in the survival of the fittest." Well so do I. I happen to be poor myself
as of late (because I'm trying to kick-start a business here) at the moment.
You should realize that the smartest among us may not always be the richest
and a boost (via proper Education or Habitat) could serve the individual,
family AND community quite well.
Thanks, Tim

I'm also beginning to see why people like mabeline and even hard working
marva raise their own soccer teams, because there's plenty of people that
feel they've done their good deed by letting the gov't take taxes and put a
little to schools. If you feel so strongly about all these poor kids adopt a
few, send money to more, do something. It's pretty sad if your conscience is
put to rest by paying taxes... must be easy to sleep at nigh, very hands
off.
How many of you guys that are so concerned for Marva spend your weekends
working for habitat for humanity or at local shelters? How many give to good
will versus having garage sales? Are you driving Geo Metro's so that Marva
can put food on the plate and her kids can wear Nikes? Unless you're doing
any or all of that, please come down off the high horse and stand with the
rest of us. Paying your taxes, in no way qualifies you for saint hood.
And to answer my own question. No I don't do any of those things. I believe
in the survival of the fittest. I know the value of hard work and have no
sympathy for those who choose to do anything less than their best, which
does not include spitting out child after child.
And I have been poor. I've stood in line for gov't cheese with my folks when
my dad lost his job, we moved and survived.. without any additional help
than gov't cheese.

I'm beginning to see why hitler got away with the things that he did. There
are apparantly many more completely self-centered, greed motivated
individuals in this world then I thought possible. Talk about not giving
money to a healthy 30 year homeless man is one thing, saying you don't care
if helpless 2 year old starves to death in your own community is entirely
another.
