Complete and utter nonsense, I have met many people involved in
environmental movements and to say they are driven by money is completely
ludicrous. The vast majority are volunteers, even at the higher levels
within those groups that have a traditional organisation, those that do get
payment tend to receive far less than they would in a normal job.

And companies and countries that do good things for the environment do get
recognised by environmental groups - its the media that doesn't report it,
for example:

"Bonn, Germany - 27 July 2001 - At the conclusion of the Bonn climate talks,
Greenpeace hailed the Ministerial agreement as an historic landmark in the
battle to protect the earth's climate. The formal adoption of the political
agreement by representatives of 180 nations means that the Kyoto Protocol is
