Well, exactly ... and the point I'm trying to make is, don't believe
everything a environmental group tells you just because the seem so
concerned. They have ulterior motives, too, whether they realize it or not.

They need money to operate and the only way they can get money is to make
themselves seem useful and neccessary. And the only way to do that is to
tell only their side of the story.

This is answer to those saying "don't believe what the politicians and the
newspapers tell you."

I'm saying, "don't believe anything anybody tells you ... " or at least take
it all with a grain of salt. Or at least, listen to both sides and throw
out what doesn't make sense to you.

For those who have actually paid attention to what I've said, I have said
nasty things about the non-environmental side of the issue, too. But I've
been disappointed that so many seemingly intelligent people on this list buy
hook line and sinker everything the environmental groups tell them.

It takes money to run any organization, especially ones that, by
necessity, are forced to work through political lobbying. There are a
_lot_ of scam non-profits in existence, but the larger environmental and
consumer concerns don't tend to be among them. But keep your money in
your wallet where you feel it's safest.

One thing I've learned from years of watching (and occasionally
participating in) the arguments from either side is that people believe
what they want to believe. Seldom are they swayed by either logical
argument or scientific fact. Whether it's political, economic,
environmental, social issues, doesn't matter. Most disturbing are the
folks that are incapable of thinking for themselves. They wake up in
the morning and brand themselves "liberal" or "conservative" and then
they argue the party line, by rote, to their death. Like damned
lemmings.
