Since I work on the hosting end of things, my experience is a bit
different. I depend on developers to keep my employed. I have seen some
big account turn to .NET or PHP for one reason or another. On the other
hand, I have seen CF grow in size as well. But like Erica said, it's
becoming more Enterprise. However, I am also seeing more n00bies as
well.
All in all, I think every community has this issue. I bet somewhere, on
a .NET mailing list, someone is saying how Microsoft's bad rap is having
a negative effect on ASPX pages.
MM is growing, I can see it and I've been here since the Allaire days. I
think it better that we as a community can talk about the negative and
work together to bring our thoughts to MM and have them listened too and
changes put in place. This creates a bit of "ownership" in a way
Let's face it, we are the red-headed stepchildren of the coding world.
We always will be. I really don't pay too much attention to things on /.
like "HURRRR..PHP GOOD...CFMX BAD...HURRRRR" because you could say the
same for any other language. (insert language X vs. language Y argument
here)
I could rant on and on and on but I can't really get a clear thought
right now. The weather is wayyyyyyyyyyyy to nice here and I want to see
what the rest of you have to say.
