It seems to me that there are a lot of things on the list that could
easily be construed as negativity.

There are full-throated defenses of both sides of nearly every argument,
which could be interpreted as argumentative and devisive.  Of course,
while feelings in the past have been hurt, generally, those of us who
don't want to get into deep arguments about politics, religion, etc.
simply skip these threads.

There are insults being thrown back and forth.  Of course, we all know
(right?  right?!?) that it's all meant in fun.

We frequently talk about how bad news story yyyy is, or how stupid
polititian xxxx is.  But everyone needs to vent, and if you disagree,
you can either ignore me or toss up an argument to what I said.

But the point is that there really *is* a lot of positive reinforcement,
help, and friendship on the list.  The number of times I've said, "I've
got this friend who... well, I've never really met him, but..." is
ridiculously large.

Sure, there's a lot of negativity on the list.  But the world isn't all
rainbows and sunshine.  It's also rain and sunburns.  :-)
