I'm missing the force of law here. Who's forcing? What law. This is an internal
Jewish matter and has nothing at all to do with non-Jews or even with
non-orthodox Jews.

How? Ban telephone lines? Ban ISPs? With what power or force? How does my Rabbi

Just because one religous group or organization is being forceful doesn't mean
that all are bad.

As a member of a religion without a central power base, I have to disagree with
you here. If the Shul I go to didn't have tax exempt status then it would close.
All the money it gets in donations goes to it's upkeep with little left over for
charity. Take away it's tax exempt status and it folds. This is not the
uber-rich Catholic church. This is a neighborhood place of worship.
