is that well trained and well led prison guards who have clear orders
as to the treatment of prisoners are by far less likely to abuse
prisoners. Personally I think that everyone from the general in
charge of the prison, the general who was brought in from Gitmo to
set up the interrogation, on down to the privates who violated those
prisoners should be brought up on courts marshal charges, and if
found guilty, serve the maximum sentence in hard time then cashiered.
I completely agree with you, however, the activity and "investigations" so far
are more along the lines of CYA of all the command chain, and as I predicted
when this story first broke, that they would throw a few enlisteds to the dogs
and everyone else will get a pass.
The administration is falling all over themselves to show that a few miscreants
are punished, while not wanting to see or hear testimony or evidence of
complicity from the entire chain of command ever see the light of day.
I think the by word than as it is now is "pausable deniability."
Thank goodness for the press, liberal or otherwise whose editors will not let it
die until the higher-ups are brought to justice.
Extending this a little more - how about the Moore Documentary winning the top
prize at the Cannes Film Festival? If they can find a distributor to release
it in the US now, this is going to cause some Republican grief as election time
nears.
