lines to your house...go check the outside of your house, but I had one line
in from the street, with what looked like a $10 radio shack splitter. But I
have heard it is important to get high frequency/bandwidth splitter->

Subject: cable splitters
So, a while ago we talked about cable splitters and the impact on cable
modems. I recently purchased a tv tuner card and decided to see how "bad" it
would be. I installed it, and traffic "seemed" fine, but over time, it
seemed like some things were slower.
The problem is - I couldn't tell if things were _really_ slow, or it was
just a problem of me expecting it.
I did two throughput tests from two different providers. Both said I was
getting 220-ish KPS download.
That _seems_ zippy enough for sure.
However my upload was around 44kps, which seems way lower than what it
should be.
I was under the impression a splitter would half my throughput, and I
figured if my cable modem was _way_ fast before, half of that wouldn't be
such a big deal, especially since not all connections would use 100% of my
throughput anyway.
I guess I can just take out the splitter and try again - and maybe then hire
Cox to drop a new cable in the office but I wanted to ask for opinions
before I do that.
