I hope you are right, and I suspect you are, but situations like this can
very quickly spiral out of control.

Absolutely, in the past few months Americas foreign relations have
deteriorated badly and many people were expecting something like this to
happen, it still came as a dreadful shock but the days when the US could do
what it liked internationally without fear of attack now seem to be over. I
sincerely hope that some good may come out of this disaster, but that can
only happen if the politicians (of all nations) get their act together and
start working for the greater good of all.
