Yes he was.

Yeah, that whole scene with the people all showing their support was a
lot like the cable car in the first movie. And the people rooting for
Superman in Superman 2.

Yeah, the CG is getting better. I could still tell it was CG, but it
didn't bother me too much.

One thing I noticed though was that the action wasn't non-stop. There
was a huge amount of down time with sappy dialog meant to be character
development. I loved that they were pushing the story aspect, but they
laid it on a bit thick.
