From what I remember of the animated series....

Doc Conners becomes more of a mentor to Peter and then in an accident he
looses his arm.  He then tries to regenerate his arm through genetic
manipulation.  It is also through this genetic manipulation that he and
"Spider-man" work to "cure" Spider-man.

The boy helping Aunt May is just a character that help Peter realize his
destiny, and the Russian girl is there to give Peter the thought of
interest in another "woman".  Although, I prefer a little meat then just
all bone.

I watched Spider-man 2 yesterday and was impressed with the movie,
better then the first.  I also realized that they were setting up for
Spider-man 3.  Henry Ozbourne is going to be the new "Green Goblin" in
3.  When he found his father's lab gave him the opportunity to strike
back at Spider-man and w/o Peter knowing that it is Henry.
