That's true, but when my boss makes a choice I disagree with, I don't see
people in the street with signs protesting that, and every news channel and
paper covering the issue.

Of course it is your right and responsibility to speak your mind, however,
sometimes its hard to tell a difference, or at least separate your actions
regarding the administration and your feelings for the well being of the
troops.

We walk a fine line when we speak out about war when the lives of troops are
on the line, I just hope that while some people don't think we should be
there, they understand that we are there now, and sometimes its better to
support the choice in the short term so the people directly affected can
know we are there, and when they get home then bring the talks.

But I guess by that point it may be too late.

Personally, I have to split it. I feel the war is wrong and I will
speak my mind. To do any less would not be honest to myself or to
others. It wouldn't be American, to use a jingoistic phrase. But I
absolutely support my friends and family who are there who are working
to help the Iraqi people. I can because I know them. I know they are
honest and caring people who want to help. How they got there and what
the larger implications of their being there are are a different
issue. They have to make the best of a bad situation. Yes it may weigh
on their morale, but like I said I encourage them to do the best they
can, and the least harm, while they can.

We all work at jobs that have bosses that make decisions that we often
disagree with. Or have people asking us to do things that we think are
stupid. It's part of any job, and I'm not going to make excuses for
it. But like anyone doing their job, they can choose to do it well and
with dignity or they can do it half-assed and make a mess of things.
What's different In the case of a soldier is that the results are
often life and death.
