As will most gay people. Only a small minority of people choose a gay
lifestyle, while all the ones I know were born gay. Talk to Larry
about the psychology vs biology. He's the ex-psychologist. I just know
what I know in this case from experience.

It may not be discussed, but employers are legally allowed to
discriminate against people they think might be gay due to manner or
appearance. And I can tell you unequivocably that it does happen.

It may not be discussed, but landlords are legally allowed to
discriminate against people they think might be gay due to manner or
appearance. Just coming in with a partner is enough to set many people
off. And I can tell you unequivocably that it does happen.

Yes you can't hide your skin color. Unfortunately, discrimination DOES
happen to people who don't only wear their difference as their skin
color. All your above examples of discrimination DO happen to gay
people. They also happen to, say, Jews who, like gays, may not look
all that different from white Christians. But Jews and African
Americans are legally protected from discrimination in those
situations, while gays aren't.

You're right, it's not the same. The discrimination against gays is
more insidious because it's based on feelings instead of obvious
differences of skin color. It's also not the same because you have
legal protections and gays don't. And something you probably never had
to fear was your own family disowning you because you were black. I
have had friends who's own parents beat and disowned them because they
revealed they were gay.

But they often do ask for marital status, emergency contact, insurance
beneficiaries, etc. So while it may not be overtly asked, it still can
be rather obvious to the person processing the application.

Trust me when I tell you that black people aren't the only ones who
have historically been discriminated against. For black people, their
only crime was the color of their skin. For Jews, their only crime was
their religion. For gays, their only crime is that they love someone.
Oh what terrible crimes.
