I have never in my career worked at a company with a high-level black exec.
Even in the larger companies who really promote diversity (IBM, Microsoft,
etc.) and promote blacks and other minorities to high-level positions, they
go through so much hell in the position that it is better for them to not
have been promoted.
I don't want to go off on another topic and appear to be whinning about the
inequality of blacks...but things have not changed for most of us.
I am going to be, do and acheive whatever I want to regardless of my sex,
races, etc but unfortunately not everyone has that drive.

If affirmative action is honestly followed then logically if people of all
races
are promoted according to merit, there will be a point at which the top
levels of
companies have racially mixed management with equal say in the running of
the
company. Therefore, all things being equal, there would be less
discrimination
(unless people choose to discriminate against their own race).
I think this is where America is heading.
There will be a time when Affirmative Action is not needed.
But I do not believe that this will require repealing or even changing the
laws.
The demographics of the workplace and education itself, is what will make
the
laws superfluous.

Good post Angel, and i can't dispute your points. It would be nice if we
could
fight the source of the problem though instead of the symptoms. Namely,
remove
the people in the companies that would do the sort of things you were
talking
about.
Maybe affirmative action is a necessary "evil", but hopefully its temporary,
because it really only fights the symptoms, not the problem.
