But moreover when people say it, the connotation is usually along the
lines of "stab babies in the face as a first resort, it doesn't matter
as long as long as we get what we want". Machiavelli's famous quote is
"the ends justify the means", which is what rational people disagree
with in most cases, but it seems to generally be Bush's attitude.
Doesn't matter who we offend or who suffers and dies, as long as the
agenda of the US rich and powerful elite is served, that's all that
matters.

That's why it's okay for someone (Kerry as an example) to say that
they might still have gone to war but that it would have been handled
differently.
