y'know, i hesitate to contribute to these threads 'cuz I feel like poor Sam gets ganged up on (or at least, is significantly outnumbered), and I do feel bad for that.
but to say 380 tons is 'decimal dust'...well, I have a hard time believing if it were the Kerry camp in charge that you'd be so forgiving, Sam. I could be wrong there, it's certainly nothing more than my perception....but that's what it is. The relevance of the 380 tons shouldn't be subjective based on the the overall amount of explosives. it should be objective based on the concept of 380 tons of explosives and what kind of damage can be done with that 380 tons. Insignificant from the perspective of the whole? Perhaps. Significant from the perspective of the destructive power of 380 tons of explosives? Yes. Just my $0.02 (which, statistically speaking, is just decimal debris) :) Charlie On Tue, 2 Nov 2004 22:48:54 -0000, Paul Vernon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > you've never worked with explosives. 380 tons is a hell of a large amount > > and more than enough to make a lot of our people hurt or killed from > IED's. > > I am sure that those soldiers killed or mutilated will love to know that > > what happened was just digital debris. > > So I did the math.... > > I used comparative data found using Google regarding warheads and bombs with > payloads from a few tons to just over 20 Mega tons and their destructive > power... > > If the population count of a city was around 35,000 per sq mile my > rudimentary maths says that 380 tons of TNT would kill circa 2-3000 > people... > > That works out just under the lives lost on 9/11...
