Would we be as forgiving if we were told: "we were able to secure nearly
10,000 nuclear warheads! We did misplace two, but that's not significant
next to the amount we secured."

I think that's why people are getting upset. In this game (or so it seems
the arguing is going) "close enough isn't good enough". Despite its
insignificance to the amount that might have been lost in and of itself it's
quite significant.

(We can't make firm claims, however, as to just how dangerous it is. If
anything in life "depends on how you use it" its explosives. The same bomb
can kill nobody, just a few or hundreds depending on where it's placed.)

Personally I don't think it's at all incompatible to be both proud of the
amount we've been able to dispose of while still being appalled that such a
significant amount was lost.

This is so tiring. Can we ever get passed it?

So how many lives did we save be destroying
999,620 tons?

Are we done here?
