That's what I like about libertarians, they believe in liberty! The
problem with drugs is that the current theory is 2 fold:

1.) It's immoral and the federal governement should legislate morality.

2.) Drugs are so awesome, and people are so weak, that if drugs were
legal everyone would use them and then there'd be anarchy; or at least
wrongful injury and death would rise.

Here's my view:

1.) No non-drug users that I know were disuaded because drugs are
illegal; I've never heard "well I would, but it's illegal." Nobody I
know that uses drugs cares if they're illegal; they just factor it in
as a risk of life. Look at drunk drivers.

2.) Drug use is a medical problem, not a criminal one. So while we
probably don't want heroin available at the local 7-11, if somebody is
caught with it or using it they should be treated medically.
(Hazelden, Betty Ford, etc.)

3.) There should be safe ways to get and use drugs should someone
choose too, i.e., needle parks. By providing drugs for free, we'd
take the profit incentive out of drug dealing and crime rates would
fall: theft, armed robbery, prostitution, buglury, et al.

The libertarians are on to something!
