I am filtering my internal response to a situation based on pre-existing facts in (the US of) Americas history. Racism and discrimination are two different things. You can be a racist who doesn't discriminate and as your 'opening the door for a woman' example shows, you can discriminate without being a racist.
Also, just to be picky: Right below this sentence you suggest we are discussing racism, correcting my apparently wrong assertion that we were discussing the offensiveness of a cartoon. So, if I accept your argument, can I then ignore your comment about opening doors for women as being offensive as it is clearly not an issue of racism. Or is this woman black?
